Terms of Use

Last updated: June 5, 2026

These Terms govern your use of the Locto macOS app (the "App") and the locto.io website (the "Site"). By installing the App or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use Locto.

Who we are

Locto is an independent product built and operated by Anton Glance, based at:

What Locto is

Locto is a macOS menu-bar app that provides real-time speaking-pace coaching during your video calls. It runs entirely on your Mac. It does not record your meetings, store transcripts, or send your speech to any server.

Your license

When you purchase Locto, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use one (1) copy of the App on one (1) Mac that you personally own or primarily use.

If you want to use Locto on additional Macs, purchase additional licenses.

You may not:

  • Share, resell, sublicense, lend, or transfer your license to anyone else.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the App, except where such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law.
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices in the App.
  • Use the App to violate any law or anyone else's rights.

Locto and all related materials are owned by Anton Glance and are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws.

Payment

Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy (lemonsqueezy.com), our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy is the seller of record on every transaction — when you buy Locto, your payment contract is with Lemon Squeezy, and applicable sales taxes, VAT, or GST are calculated, collected, and remitted by Lemon Squeezy on our behalf.

The current price is shown on locto.io at the time of purchase. Prices may change for future purchases; your existing license is not affected by later price changes.

What your purchase includes

The one-time purchase price gives you:

  • The current version of the App and all features included at the time of purchase.
  • All bug fixes and usability updates within the same major version (for example, all v1.x updates).

New features released in a new major version (for example, v2.0, which may include optional cloud-based features) may be offered as a separate paid upgrade at our discretion. We will never remove features from the version you bought.

Refunds

We offer a 7-day, no-questions-asked refund from the date of purchase. To request a refund within this window, email [email protected] with your order ID. We appreciate (but do not require) a short note on why Locto didn't work for you — it helps us improve.

After 7 days, refunds are handled case by case. If the App stops working for reasons within our control, or you encounter a problem we cannot resolve, write to [email protected] and we will work with you in good faith. Refunds outside the 7-day window are at our discretion and are processed through Lemon Squeezy.

Future versions and optional cloud features

Locto v1 runs entirely on your Mac and sends no speech, audio, or transcript data anywhere. Future versions may introduce optional cloud-based features (for example, deeper analysis of speaking patterns). These features will always be:

  • Opt-in. Off by default. You must explicitly enable them.
  • Subject to additional terms. When you enable a cloud feature, the App will show you a clear description of what data is sent, where it is processed, and the additional terms specific to that feature. You must accept those terms separately before the feature activates.

If you never enable optional cloud features, the App continues to behave the way Locto behaves today — fully on-device.

"As is" — no warranty

The App and the Site are provided "as is" and "as available." We make reasonable efforts to keep Locto working, accurate, and reliable, but to the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every Mac configuration or every third-party service. Video-call platforms, audio devices, and macOS itself can change behavior outside our control.
  • We do not warrant any specific outcome from using Locto — for example, improvement in your speaking pace, performance in meetings, or career outcomes.
  • We disclaim all implied warranties to the extent permitted by law, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Locto's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the App, the Site, or these Terms is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or loss of opportunity, even if we have been advised of the possibility.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

Termination

You may stop using Locto at any time by deleting the App from your Mac.

We may suspend or terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms (for example, by sharing your license key or attempting to bypass activation). On termination, you must stop using the App and uninstall it. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (license restrictions, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, give reasonable notice on the Site. Continued use of Locto after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept an update, your remedy is to stop using the App; we are not obliged to refund prior purchases for terms updates.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Mexico, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or Locto will be brought exclusively in the competent courts of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.

If you are a consumer purchasing for personal use, mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence may apply in addition to (or, where they conflict, instead of) the above. Nothing in these Terms removes or limits any right you have under such mandatory consumer-protection laws.

For US customers: notwithstanding the choice of law above, you may also bring small-claims-court matters in your local jurisdiction to the extent your local law permits.

Severability

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms presented for optional features, are the entire agreement between you and Locto regarding the App and the Site.
